Changing home page to Static Page

Hi! I want to keep the Hello Darling theme but I need to change the home page.  I’ve gone through the settings and redirected to the desired page but the widgets are still showing.  (The title shows but none of the content) I tried removing the widgets but a white box remains.  
Is it possible to change the front page but keep the theme throughout my site?

The themes are widgetized homepages, designed to either show or not show based on using the homepage widgets.  So assigning a static page will not work.  The option for this is to modify the theme so the homepage loads as a page template that gets assigned to a specific page.  Then you can set a static homepage with a different design. 
 
Are you trying to create a coming soon page?  If so, a good plugin for that is the Easy Coming Soon

No, not a coming soon page.

I love the way my page looks but unfortunately it hasn’t been good for converting sales, that’s why I’m hoping to switch it over.

Is modifying the theme something to load a page template be something that I can do or will I need to hire this out? (Your instructions for theme set up are amazing and I can follow them but I don’t trust myself with much coding!)
