Hello,
Is the new kadence child theme required for the Hello Chic theme? I have had my hello chic theme for years and was curious if I need to update from genesis to kadence. If so is there an additional purchase for this new child theme?

You do not need to update to Kadence unless you would like to.  It is an additional purchase if you would like to change to it.  Right now we are having the end of year sale if that is the route you choose to go.
