Hi! 
I think I remember having this issue when I first uploaded the theme a year or so ago, but I cannot remember how it was fixed. I updated recently and there is a space between the top and bottom on the left (screenshot). Is there an easy way to remove this?

Yes, you would want to change the alignment on the images to none.  When you do left, right or center, it adds padding to the images.
