Home page showing error message hello sassafras theme

I have set my home page as a link on one of the pages to allow my readers to return back to the home page and it shows error 404 message but when clicking on home button on the menu up top it takes you back to the homepage how do I set the homepage as a link to avoid the error message and also ensuring all the pages don’t have error messages as well.
