Picture Sizing

I purchased the theme ‘Hello Trending’ and have completely implemented it into my site: http://www.kate-bartlett.com. However, I have been having an extremely difficult time with the picture formatting for thumbnails and featured images. All of the pictures are showing up on the thumbnails as different sizes. In addition to this making my homepage look very bad because of the different sizes, it is also causing the titles of the blog posts in the archives to be off as well because the pictures are all different sizes. When I try and manually re-adjust the sizing of the photos nothing changes or it makes it even worse. I have worked for days and days on this problem and have found no solution so I would appreciate any web help you have to offer.

There are a few steps you would need to do.  The first, is to go to Genesis > Theme Settings > and select the featured image size you would like to use.  For Hello Trending it is recommended to use the 400×500.  Once you have done that you will need to regenerate your thumbnails.  You can do this by downloading a plugin, the one I typically use is Force Regenerate thumbnails.  Then run that on the images in your media library.  That will prompt WordPress to create thumbnails in the themes featured image size.
When you created your featured images, if you did not use a standard size for all of them, then they may not be consistent even after running that query on your images, but they will be better.  Moving forward, you will want to make sure that all of your Featured Images are the same size for consistency.  Featured images are the only images that you really need to make the same.
If you were using a different size prior to loading our theme, we can help you adjust the featured image to your previous size.  Just let me us what size that was.

Thank you so much for your help!! I have now figured out the basis of my issue, prior to purchasing the theme I was on blogger and I switched to wordpress when I bought the theme. That being said, most of my thumbnails are 266/267×400 right now and I would love help switching them to 400×500 without having to reupload all new photos

What size is the original image loaded? is it that 267×400? Or is it a larger image? If it is a larger image, running the “regenerate thumbnails” will create the new size image without needing to reupload images. If it is that exact small size, I can adjust the template to load that, or you would need to create new featured images so they are not blurry.

Yes I believe they are that size (not all of them are but most of them), do you think that it would be better to adjust the template or reupload the images?

If we adjust the template then you would not need to redo the photos that were that size. Which may be easier. If you do not have a lot of featured images though, it may be better to use a larger size like the theme is using and then redo all of your featured images. That way they are clear and crisp on all devices and your readers can easily share them. When it is small like that, it doesn’t share as well. The display for the featured image is the 400×500, which means you would actually load a 800x1000px photo. The theme compresses it and makes it retina ready.
