Style page to look like home page
Hi Jennifer!
I am organizing my blog posts and have assigned them a category. Once I do that they show up on the page just fine but there is not excerpt from the post, or the shop the post widget. That is what I have on the home page! I am wondering how to set that up so it reflects that of the demo.
I can attach photos if necessary.
Also, is there someone I can get in contact with to help me with the “first image” second of my Hello Maker theme. I want to customize it but need to be pointed in the right direction. Thank you!
In the category archives it is designed to not show an excerpt or the shop style widget. Here is how the archives look on the demo for maker

The blog template will show the excerpts and shopstyle. For the image sections you can change those in the image customizer at Appearance > Customize > Image sections.
Hi Jennifer, oh I was looking at the wrong way! I looked at this https://hellomaker.helloyoudesigns.com/full-width/, is there a way to make that my blog post page or is that only for the home page?
Thank you!
Yes, you can do that. If you go to your blog page, you would select the full width from the layout options. Then it will remove the sidebar and give that full width layout.
Okay! I was able to do that but I was wondering if there was a may to add a blog excerpt and change the font size of the blog post title?
For the blog excerpt, if you go to Genesis > Theme Settings > you can set the amount of content to show, usually between 250-300 depending on the theme. The blog post title can be changed on line 2299 in the style sheet. The font size is at 5.0rem. Let me know if you have any issues.
Okay! I have done that and it worked on my home page but not the category page. Is there a way to add an excerpt on my blog page not just the home page?
Thanks!
It should be the same on the blog page. I would make sure that the page you are using for the blog has the blog template assigned and is not a category archive.
Okay I will double check!
So I just checked and I am assigning categories to each post to appear as a page on my menu. Is that not correct?
That is correct. That is what the category archives are, which display in a grid, no excerpts. Each post you assign to a category so your readers can quickly go to the categories they are interested in, filter out all the other posts, and then read only what they want. That is what the Category Archive is.
Your blog is what the link above is that you sent, which would have excerpts. Typically you have a page in your menu that is called blog and then all of your posts will filter to that page. To assign the blog to a page you would change the default template to the blog template.
