K Hello Chic – Sidebar
I wanted to set up a sidebar on the main page of the blog as well as on the articles’ pages (so it would show pics and links of my podcast interviews) but I get an error message both when I try to use the Widgets tab and when I try to change it from the Appearance, it doesn’t let me. Similar error message that I don’t understand. Something about not being able to see it in the preview mode, but it doesn’t let me change anything anyways, so…
I’m not sure what the issue is here, but generally speaking, I find issues and roadblocks when trying to do very simple things, like adding blocks and changing pictures even. The themes and plugins are always updated, how do I move past this? Thanks
If you are on a page that doesn’t have it, the customizer can’t show it. The first step would be to add the sidebar to the blog page and your article page. You do that by going to the page itself, and then in the editor selecting the page layout you want. The editor for that is the paper icon with a pencil in the top right. Once it has a sidebar you can customize that in the customizer. However it is much easier to customize it under Appearance > Widgets. There you will have more room to edit and see what you are adding to the sidebar. If you have any troubles adding the sidebar to the blog page or articles page, feel free to email me jennifer@helloyoudesigns.com with the URL and a login and I can log on and add that layout to those pages.
