The latest genesis update installed and my homepage has been messed up – the widgets don’t show and neither do the image sections. Before the update installed, one of the widgets on the Home Flexible sections wasn’t zooming like the others either, but now I can’t have you test that until this is fixed.

The Genesis update also seems to be overriding the customizations I have within WordPress… Like when you click Customize and choose colors – it doesn't seem to be adopting these…

I did more digging and it appears that Genesis Featured Page Advanced is not working with the latest Genesis update. Can you give me an update when this theme is up to par with the latest Genesis framework? I’ve got more work to do, so I’m going to downgrade genesis if I can.

I’m having the same issue. I’ve updated to Genesis to 3.0.0 just now and my Hello Maker theme’s Image Sections for my Home page have been disabled.

As of right now, revert back to 2.10 of Genesis. The Genesis Featured Page Advanced plugin just came out with an update to fix whatever issue they were having with the latest Genesis, so you can update that plugin. For our themes we are currently looking for a solution, or waiting for Genesis to put out an update. Until then, run the older version, and once we have a better idea of what is going on will update everyone.

Thank you, Jennifer! I’ve reverted and will wait for your update when ready.

How do I revert back to 2.10? I have 2.6.1 in a folder on my laptop.

same question. how do I reversed back?

Mimi Zackery replied 5 years ago

Jenny, I went in and backed up the site to yesterday. If you don’t know how to do that call your hosting company and they can walk you through it.

thx! will try it.

I had the same issue. Went into my host and thankfully they backup daily. I had just updated two days ago to fix the last genesis issue with my theme and suddenly all that was gone! Gah! Thankfully the backup restored everything and I won’t be updating Genesis again until I triple check with Jennifer!

As an FYI, if you install UpDraft Plus Backups plugin, which is free, you should be able next time to revert to an earlier version of your own website without having to contact your web hosting Support team to do it for you.

UPDATE: Right now everything should be good to update to Genesis 3.0. I’ve updated it on all demo sites. If you have updated your theme recently, you should be fine. If not, that would be the key to making the update work.

Where do we go to verify we have the latest version of our theme, Jennifer?

Jennifer Staff replied 5 years ago

You can check your account area on the site. Only the latest version are in that area and it will say the version number after the theme name.
