Link to offsite portfolio items in portfolio section

Hello – I am creating a writing portfolio on my site using the Hello Foxy theme. I want to use the current portfolio set up, but I don’t see a way to link to offsite portfolio items.
For example, I’ve written a lot of articles on one specific outside website, and I’d like to link to those without the visitor needing to click through another page on my site – a placeholder “portfolio item” with a link to the article in it – to get to it.
Is there a way to do this?

So when they click on the portfolio image, they automatically go to that page offsite? vs clicking into the portfolio item and then clicking a button to that page? Yes, use a page links to plugin. Then on the portfolio post page, link it to that page. Then you can use the portfolio image still with hover effect, but when clicked on will go directly to the article. Here is a link to the plugin.
